Alternative Energy Ltd

Today ALR posted an RNS on their end of year results to 31 Aug 2010. Whilst the company made a bigger loss than last year, they have made progress. They have a number of patents authorised and are starting to generate revenue. Also the chairman Chris Nightingale has put another $1M loan into the company, bringing his total investment up to $3.3M!! He obviously has confidence.  The view is that they should be generating significant revenue by year end. As I am quite happy to sit and wait on this I feel quite happy with the company’s current stat. We just need the revenue to start rolling in.

Victoria Oil and Gas VOG

I must be bolder! Today there was an RNS from VOG and as a result the sp started to climb. I thought about selling my VOG shares with HSBC France as they were in profit. However, I hesitated as I didn’t know if they would go up more or retrace. I have noticed that frequently shares start to retrace about 10.30 am. However, as I write the sp is now 4.99p and if I had sold at about 5.2p then it is likely that I could have bought in lower tomorrow or bought other shares. I MUST learn that if I am in profit then there is no harm in selling and realising the profit. I will try not to make the same mistake next time I have an opportunity!

Bad week in the markets!!!

This has been a bad week for the markets, well at least for the shares I hold!  There has been a little movement and there are signs that some companies may improve soon but in the main, lots of my shares are doing badly.
I might have news of ALR and VOG on Monday and BVC on the 8th of March. I am waiting for news of TSTR  at any time and on March 7th there is a meeting of VAL. Anything is possible but it is very tedious just waiting. The other  week I felt like a trader, buying and selling in a week but now, nothing is happening to enable me to sell and move to another share!!!
The international situation is difficult, with turbulence in North Africs and it didn't help this morning with the London Stock Exchange down for several hours and no trading!
Ah well, perhaps next week will be better.

1st birthday of share trading

I started trading exactly 1 year ago when I bought 1000 GKN shares for 105p and sold then in September for 180p. I then transferred the money to my TD Waterhouse account as the cost of buying and selling was much cheaper than through HSBC in France. To start with it was costing €200 to buy or sell shares in London. To buy or sell shares in Paris was €10 but I also had to pay €22 “droits de garde” to the bank. All in all I felt I was getting ripped off by HSBC.
To start with I was charged £12.50 for each transaction with TD Waterhouse but after the first 3 months that reduced to £8.95. Also I can buy or sell on the internet whereas with HSBC I had to ring up each time and go through a whole load of rigmarole to buy or sell.
I still have 50000 shares in VOG in my French HSBC account and I am waiting for the sp to hit 10p. So it was a bit of a shock today when the sp fell to 4.3p before recovering to 4.8p. Other than that every share was down except for TSTR which at one point touched 1.24p from a close of 0.94p the previous day.  NOT a good day but I am hoping that soon I will be in profit in most of my shares.  I now have 9 different shares covering 9 different sectors so I am happy that I am spreading the risk. From an investment of £1000 my portfolio is now £13000, some by organic growth but most by adding funds.
I hope that 1 year from now I will have doubled the portfolio to approx £25000. Watch this space!!

Pinnacle Telecom Group plc (PINN)

Excellent RNS out this morning. Sales up over 100%, gross profit up over 100% and a net profit of £159k!! I had to get some new tyres for my wife's car so I thought the sp might go up and I would miss being able to sell at a profit. When I got back an hour after the market opened I found that the sp had gone down!! Nearly 20M shares traded in the morning and no increse in price.
I was hoping to sell PINN and buy back into THR as I did a dummy buy and could have bought at 2.38p, lower than my original purchase. Ah well back to being patient!!

End of the week round up

Well the week started well with Thor mining going up and me selling. Then I bought Valirx and Pinnacle Telecom expecting a bit of movement and nothing happened. Either it has been a very quiet week or the problems with the new software at the London Stock Exchange have had an effect on trading.
Monday are the results for PINN and lost of people on the bb are getting excited. I have a feeling that even with good news the price will; go down and I will be stuck in PINN for some time to come! If I can sell and make a profit, then I want to top up on TSTR, PTCM orBVC and also buy some Medavinci MVC a mining company with interests in some old gold mines.Ah well, we will see.

ValiRx plc (VAL)

With the money left over from the sale of THR, I bought some ValiRx plc (VAL) shares.I have been watching these for a while and they have been mainly 0.3p to 0.4p. Then last week they announced that they had a self check product for CHLAMYDIA and the shares went potty!! The sp went to 2p and then they issued a placing and raised over £3M amd the sp dropped to 0.7p. The product is beneficial and if marketed properly, there is no reason why this share shouldn't increase in value significantly.
I am only here for the short term as I wish to increase my holding in TSTR when they announce their placing. So any rise over 1p will be fine for me. If it shoots up to 5p like SAR then I will be very pleased but in reality it is just short term.

Pinnacle Telecom Group plc (PINN)

Well,I sold my THR shares for 12.3% profit in 2 days. I then decided that I would buy 200000 shares in Pinnacle Telecom Group plc (PINN) at 0.5p. I have been watching this share for months but didn't have the inclination or funds to buy. Also it is their half year results on Monday so the sp should rise up to then and depending on the results could go higher on Monday. We shall see but if the conditions are right then I would like to go back into THR.
With the balance of the money I wanted to buy some Sareum  SAR shares but because of the settlement dates I wasn't able to use all the funds available. I rang TD Waterhouse and eventually they said I would have to wait until tomorrow!

Thor Mining PLC (THR)

THR has been moving well this week and I am unsure what to do know. I bought at 2.48 and can sell at 2.837p so a nice little profit in 4 days. On the other hand I could be patient and watch the sp move up and get to my sell target of 4p or more. I think I will see what other shares are interesting and if something stands out then I may sell. The folowing quote on an Australian site and is very apt!

Patience is Not the Ability to Wait, But the Ability to Keep a GOOD Attitude While Waiting !

Thor Mining PLC (THR)

I spent some time at the weekend looking for shares suitable for purchasing if I was not able to buy back into PTCM. At first I didn’t think that I would find anything suitable and then I found Thor Mining PLC (THR). This company is looking for molybdenum and Tungsten, and some of their sites might have gold.
So after it was obvious that PTCM was not going to retrace and I am waiting for dilution on TSTR before I buy, I bought 49000 shares in THR at 2.48p. On the Australian exchange they had gone up 8% so I am hoping that they are going to move up in the UK as well. I have a sales target of 4p.

London Stock Exchange has problems with new software!!!!

Very frustrating day today because the London Stock Exchange had problems with new software, which meant that all the sites showing the current prices were not very accurate.
So it was difficult to know what was actually happening and therefore it was very difficult to day trade.
I hope it is better tomorrow!
