Failure!!

I don’t seem to be able to buy on the retrace!! After selling my TSTR, the price dropped a little so I tried to buy back in but was only able to buy on a negotiated trade. I thought I would be able to buy later in the day but not only did it stay on NT all day but the sp went up to 1.2p before ending at 1.12p!! So, good lick to all holders of TSTR, I hope it goes up soon. I made a profit and there is no such thing as a bad profit!!
At the end of the day I topped up my Orogen ORE shares at 0.809p and bought some Asia Digital ADH shares at 0.65p. The prices were good because the market was in a dreadful state after the Japanese earthquake and the situation in Libya, both human tragedies!

Victoria Oil and Gas VOG

I must be bolder! Today there was an RNS from VOG and as a result the sp started to climb. I thought about selling my VOG shares with HSBC France as they were in profit. However, I hesitated as I didn’t know if they would go up more or retrace. I have noticed that frequently shares start to retrace about 10.30 am. However, as I write the sp is now 4.99p and if I had sold at about 5.2p then it is likely that I could have bought in lower tomorrow or bought other shares. I MUST learn that if I am in profit then there is no harm in selling and realising the profit. I will try not to make the same mistake next time I have an opportunity!

Porta Communications PTCM

Yesterday afternoon PTCM shares moved a little and I thought it would be a good opportunity to try some day trading so as I bought in the morning at 0.212p, I sold 500,000 shares at 0.25p and made just over £120 profit. I then had to go out at 4.30 pm so I put in a buy order for 0.23p to see if I could buy back in with the same amount of money but get some free shares. I have tried this before and never been successful and I wasn’t successful yesterday!!!  It may be the start of an upward movement for PTCM, in which case I still have 380,000 shares but if there is a retrace then I could buy back in!
ABH did retrace to 0.51p despite being the most traded share yesterday so I was pleased that I sold up and made my trade in PTCM. If PTCM doesn’t retrace to 0.22p on Monday morning then all the money from my trade will be going into TSTR on Monday afternoon.

Angel Biotechnology Holdings PLC

ABH issued an RNS this morning saying that they had tied up a deal with a Russian company worth £4.5M. I had been out shopping and found that the sp had spiked and I was now in profit. I decided that I would sell and put my money into Porta Communications PTCM, where I am getting close to holding 1M shares. I feel that the sp of ABH will retrace but knowing my luck it will shoot up.
I am very tempted to sell my BVC shares and put the money into TSTR but I am resisting the temptation at the moment until the results on March 9th. Have I made the right decisions? Who knows but as the saying goes, "There is no such thing as a bad profit!"

Boring day - another view

Not a very good day, all my shares were down except for TSTR Tristar. No chance to try selling and buying back on the retrace. However, I did read a post on a BB that seemed to make sense to me. The guy was saying that when he started 25 years ago he was always looking for about a 10% return and was living on his wits trying to make some profit. It seemed a little like me. Then he said that as his investment in each company went above £5000 then he learned to relax and become more patient and look for bigger profits.
Some might argue that it was all right for him to say that as he had lots of money. However, the philosophy is correct but the temptation is to take profit while it is available. As shares don't go up in a straight line small investors might feel that they will lose their profits if they watch a share retrace. I have learnt with GKN that waiting is worth its while. However, I have sold some shares too soon when if I had waited I could have made a better profit.
I need to reflect on this lesson often if I am to makwe progress!

I must learn to be smarter!!

With the rest of the money from the sale of my Low and Bonar shares, I topped up my TSTR. I bought some more at 1.03p. Later in the day they moved up and at one point I could have sold them at 1.14p but I didn't as It wasn't that much of a profit. Later when I looked the price had gone down to 1.10p So it is possible that I could have sold and then bought in again on the retrace but I am not that quick or  adventurous at the moment. If I had sold and was not able to get back in I would still have a profit, so I must try this at the next opportunity.
My Tangent shares are strange, there is a wide spread and the only people buying them seem to be the directors, which isn't a bad sign. Be nice if they moved a bit more though!
VOG is doing OK, closed at 6.3p yesterday and is hovering around that mark today. We are still waiting for the licence and hopefully that will be soon.
I want to buy some shares on the New York stock exchange so that I can spread my money around the world economies. So if anyone has some low value shares they think are of interest, then let me know.

Learning how to trade!

Yesterday morning I went out and all my shares were quiet. When I came back a litlle later EDL had gone bonkers and had gone from 0.85p to 1.2p. I thought that this was good as I was well in profit and hoped that it would continue. At the end of the day EDL was the most traded share, with over 180M shares traded. The final closing price was 1.03p. Ok I was in profit but it occurred to me that what I should have done was to sell at 1.2p and buy back at 1.03p thereby increasing my holding as I have no spare cash at the moment. Of course if I had sold and it continued to go up I might have looked silly but I would have made a profit. With this in mind, I thought that the sp might move again today so I made a limit sell order for 1.35p. That would give me 33% profit and I might be able to buy back on a retrace. Well the sp got to 1.2 but not the 1.35p I wanted and there was virtually no retrace! The sell order was only for 1 day so tomorrow I am going to make another order for 1.4p. I think that I will keep increasing it until it sells and then to try to buy back in on a retrace. If it doesn't sell, its not a problem. If it does then I make more money. I'll try it and watch the results.
Greencore issued an RNS today saying that they had bought a sandwich business in the US so they seem keen on expanding. I hope it is reflected in the sp!

Quiet week!!

It was a fairly boring week as not much happened. WEST had their results, which were not great but reasonable given the circumstamces and the sp fell. There continued to be loads of RNS(Regulatory News Service) for Greencore. Friday was the Record Day for divi, so sp went up to €1.47. I wonder what will happen on Monday? Will it continue to rise or will it suffer a retracement? There was a little bit of excitement for EDL but not much movement of the sp. TNG Tangent Communications had 2 managers sell about 22M shares but agin not much movement in sp.VOG's AGM came and went and still no news of the licence so the sp is still range bound around 5.25p.VOG did have a meeting with several PIs(Private Investors) from the LSE and iii boards. I have read a brief report and it seems very encouraging, we just need the licence. I have not renewed my sell order and my bank have suggested that I ring the telephone trading line. I will try that next week to check that I can sell online when the time is right.
Now that I am in profit withVOG, I am tempted to just let it run as it is possible that the sp could continue to move up throughout next year. However, there is a rumour that the French government is going to abolish the tax free elemenmt of share dealing in 2011. So if I sell by the end of this year, I won't have to pay tax on my gains next year and I will be able to use the bulk of my investment to trade other shares. Roll on the licence!!!
