Greencore Group GNC

Some disappointing news today, in that, the takeover talks with Greencore have ended. Not too big a surprise given the current state of the global market but disappointing nevertheless. The net result was that the sp fell back to its pre takeover level of €0.63. So now we will be eagerly awaiting the Year End results tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how the dividend structure is sorted out, so long as they keep paying a dividend, I will be quite happy.

More news on the IMIC front, they issued another RNS today regarding their JV partner African Iron Ore Group Limited ("AIOG") who have signed a JV agreement with the government of Guinea for the Simandou iron ore mining project. As a result the sp went up to 0.33p before dropping back. However, given my frustration with them previously, they do seem to be trying to make a go of things.

Victoria Oil and Gas VOG

A dilution RNS this morning, not exactly what you want to see but it has been talked about for days! I would have preferred a dilution at a higher price as there would have been less shares issued but if you need to raise money now, I guess your options are limited! I don't see it dragging the sp down much further and in all likelihood gas will start to flow soon so we should then see the sp rise. The presidential elections in Cameroon are on October 9th so it wouldn't surprise me if some gas didn't start to flow before then.

On a seperate issue I have started trading Forex again and this time in a more controlled way. Before I wasn't very successful as I tended to trade too much and have my stoops set too close and lost all my dosh. Now, I am trading less, using Bollinger bands, RSI and MACD charts to determine when to trade and try to limit myself to achieving a goal and then sticking to it. I started last week with €300 and am now on €503 so not bad in just over a week.

Greencore Group GNC

I found this link yesterday about the takeover of UNIQ and hope that they are able to get a move on soon. The year end is 30th September so results should be in November. The interim dividend is due for payment 5th October, so there is a lot going on at the moment.

The other day I set an alert for GKN for when they dropped below 180p. They went down to 176 and yesterday closed at 190 so if I had bought GKN shares instead of VOG I would have had a nice little earner from a FTSE company. I am going to follow GKN for a while as I wouldn't mind building a holding in them.

Victoria Oil and Gas VOG

Well I bought my VOG shares at 3.65p and whereas previously I had bought 146406 shares and sold 146000 shares , now I have bought 149261 shares for the same money so effectively I have gained over 3000 shares! So now I have a sell order in for 4.1p just for today. I am going to increase it by 0.1p each day so that if it triggers then I will be making some nice dosh. My sell order is for just over 142k shares so that I will still have 150k VOG shares. If I don't get my sell order triggered I am not that bothered as come October I think the sp will rise as gas starts to be delivered to customers!

I have been disappointed with TSTR that I haven't been able to buy any shares. Even though it is listed as 0.73/0.74p the best I could buy for was 0.79p so I didn't bother.

Red Rock RRR is a bit disapponinting at the moment as despite having a good RNS the sp has dropped. One poster suggested that it was because 16.6M shares issued in June were being sold!

Greencore Group GNC

I was on holiday last week and missed all the excitement on the stock exchange but did take up my rights issue and buy some more GNC shares at €0.597. I am looking forward to the UNIQ deal being finalised in September and the Year end results being published in due course. I regard this as one of my long term shares and will be topping up as and when as the dividend is very good. I am not sure if there will be a dividend at the year end because of the UNIQ deal but we will see.

Whilst I was on holiday there were a couple of nice RNS for PINN and VOG and I expect VOG to start moving upwards as we get into October November and they start supplying gas.

Pinnacle Telecom Group plc (PINN)

Pinnacle Telecom Group sp is holding up well at the moment. Other than the results of a good Royal Wedding coverage and Local Election coverage there has been no news and yet the sp has been holding up well and moving very slowly towards 0.5p. It needs some positive news like gaining the Olympic contract to move it beyond the stubborn resistance level of 0.5p. The broker target sp is 0.95p and I think that if it can break the 0.5p resistance then it will make good progress towards that.
Victoria Oil and Gas is moving very slowly. I have a sell order in for 10p but I can't see that happening for a while. Today I started doing calculations about day trading the other 30000 shares I have. I could have sold today at 5.83 but could only have bought back at 5.7p so not a lot of point really. I need a minimum of 0.3p difference between selling and buying to make it worth while. Otherwise I might not be able to buy back in and then see it surge up towards 10p!! Back to the waiting game!

Pinnacle Telecom Group plc (PINN)

Big day today, for no apparent reason the share started to rise!! It got onto the volume leaderboard and finished at 0.45p 22% up on the day!! Not enough for me to sell and make a profit as my break even price is 0.51p so I hope that it will continue to rise tomorrow but I'm not holding my breath!
One of my other shares thatmoved a little today was TSTR which ended at 1.10p up 4%. Not a lot but better than falling so I am still waiting for news that is going to send the sp well up.

End of Financial Year

This week was the end of the financial year and many people were preoccupied with Capital Gains Tax and also there was anothere earthquake in Japan and problems with debt in Portugal. However, this was a very poor week for me on the stock exchange because trades were very low volume and there was vitually no change in the sp of my shares. The only money I made this week was the dividend from Greencore Group!!
I hope next week is better!!

Berkeley Mineral Resources PLC (BMR)

I was undecided this morning as to what to buy; Laura Ashley with results due Thursday, Physiomics who are moving well or top up in Porta Communications. So when I switched on my computer, I noticed a lot of talk about Berkeley Mineral Resources PLC who had just issued an RNS about acquiring mining rights in Kabwe, Zambia. The consensus was that the sp was going to rocket so I bought some. I should have waited until after the dust had settled as I paid 8.8p and the price dropped soon after to 7.5p. Now I have to wait several months in order to sell at a profit. I was hoping for a quick profit today but no luck!!It is likely that they will start selling lead and zinc after about 2 months so until then its just patience and don't be so impulsive!!!

Then Orogen started  to move and as I don't have that many I decided to sell at a small profit. I put this money straight into Physiomics (PYC) and bought at 0.55p This is a key player in developing manufacturing for the drug industry and has just signed an agreement which should push the sp up.So I still have nine shares but now need to buy into the basic materials sector to have a complete spread.

Porta Communications PTCM

Porta Communications PTCM are my second biggest holding after VOG, and I have already made a profit on them but recently the sp has been sliding down. Today they issued an RNS saying that David Newton no longer had a notifiable interest in the company. In other words he has less than 3% of the company's share. He did hold 336M shares so if he has sold them plus all the selling that XCAP have been doing, then no wonder the sp has been falling. I hope that the sp will now start to rise and that we get some good news about acquisitions soon!
Asia Digital Holdings ADH on the other hand are moving upwards nicely. I put my limit sell  in for 0.89p today and so far the sp has only got to 0.85p, so close but not quite there. I will move the limit sell up to 0.94p tomorrow. Everyone is getting excited that we will soon be through 1p and onwards to 2p!!! I am not so sure and am happy to make a profit and move on. Time will tell.

Porta Communications PTCM

I didn't get back into Tristar Resources so I decided to top up in Porta Communications. I bought 606k shares at 0.1955p At 0.20p I have broken even so I thought that if the sp gets to 0.3p then I will be making a 50% return!! Fine in theory but the sp has been down since then and closed at 0.18p on Friday afternoon!  They have a new website now so hopefully there will be some news on acquisitions before too long. I believe that once they announce an acquisition then the sp will rise, at least I hope so.

The only share to do well in my pf was Asia Digital. They closed at 0.68p so I am in profit as I bought at 0.65p. Their results are out on April 5th so it would be nice if the sp continued to rise up to the results. Currently they have no debt and are working to develop media solutions in China so a good market to be in. I am looking forward to the beginning of April.

Iofina (IOF) Iodine producers

Things started quite well this morning and the sp went to 24.5p then I noticed a slight reversal so I sold at 23.35p. Total profit £44 but not bad for 1 day and better than in the bank. Obviously it may move north later but again no such thing as a bad profit! I now have a limit buy for today on Tristar Resources TSTR for 0.99p. Whether I get it remains to be seen as the sp is above 1p but nothing ventured nothing gained!

The markets seem to have recovered a lttle today, nothing fantastic but not as much red about today.I am still waiting for news on a few shares but must remain patient.

I think that I did the right thing in selling IOF this morning as it has now dropped to 21.5p!

Iofina (IOF) Iodine producers

With the global meltdown of the markets since the terrible events in Japan, there is growing interest in Iofina, explorers and producers of iodine and natural gas. In the event of increasing nuclear fallout threat the demand for iodine will increase and so too will the importance of this company. I bought 5000 shares at 22p today and I would like to see the sp move north over the coming days.
This is shaping up to be as bad a crisis financially as the Lehmann Bros induced crisis of 2008 and today I have seen many of my shares move further and further into the red as people become more and more risk averse. If you have cash at the moment it would be a good time to pick up some cheap shares for when the market recovers.

Tristar Resources TSTR

Despite not being able to buy back in to TSTR on Friday, the sp has dropped to 1.07p today so it is possible to buy back in now.  However, I don’t have any spare funds; I’ll have to wait until I have sold something. Despite my rule of not going back into a share once it is sold, if the opportunity presents itself then I will buy back in as I see it as a good company.
I have changed my blog title as I don’t consider myself a beginner now as I have been trading for over a year. I have reflected on the sort of trader I am and I am going to try to achieve a trade a week because I get bored easily. So long as I make a few hundred pounds each trade I will be happy. I am not really the sort of person to hold for ages and watch the sp going up and down. Currently my average weekly profit is £83 this year and I want to average £230/week so I have a way to go yet

Bad week in the markets!!!

This has been a bad week for the markets, well at least for the shares I hold!  There has been a little movement and there are signs that some companies may improve soon but in the main, lots of my shares are doing badly.
I might have news of ALR and VOG on Monday and BVC on the 8th of March. I am waiting for news of TSTR  at any time and on March 7th there is a meeting of VAL. Anything is possible but it is very tedious just waiting. The other  week I felt like a trader, buying and selling in a week but now, nothing is happening to enable me to sell and move to another share!!!
The international situation is difficult, with turbulence in North Africs and it didn't help this morning with the London Stock Exchange down for several hours and no trading!
Ah well, perhaps next week will be better.

End of the week round up

Well the week started well with Thor mining going up and me selling. Then I bought Valirx and Pinnacle Telecom expecting a bit of movement and nothing happened. Either it has been a very quiet week or the problems with the new software at the London Stock Exchange have had an effect on trading.
Monday are the results for PINN and lost of people on the bb are getting excited. I have a feeling that even with good news the price will; go down and I will be stuck in PINN for some time to come! If I can sell and make a profit, then I want to top up on TSTR, PTCM orBVC and also buy some Medavinci MVC a mining company with interests in some old gold mines.Ah well, we will see.

ValiRx plc (VAL)

With the money left over from the sale of THR, I bought some ValiRx plc (VAL) shares.I have been watching these for a while and they have been mainly 0.3p to 0.4p. Then last week they announced that they had a self check product for CHLAMYDIA and the shares went potty!! The sp went to 2p and then they issued a placing and raised over £3M amd the sp dropped to 0.7p. The product is beneficial and if marketed properly, there is no reason why this share shouldn't increase in value significantly.
I am only here for the short term as I wish to increase my holding in TSTR when they announce their placing. So any rise over 1p will be fine for me. If it shoots up to 5p like SAR then I will be very pleased but in reality it is just short term.

London Stock Exchange has problems with new software!!!!

Very frustrating day today because the London Stock Exchange had problems with new software, which meant that all the sites showing the current prices were not very accurate.
So it was difficult to know what was actually happening and therefore it was very difficult to day trade.
I hope it is better tomorrow!

BATM Advanced Communications BVC

This is one of the shares I bought last year, I researched this company and decided to invest because they were profitable and paid a dividend. I bought in at 23.45p and since then it has been between 21 and 23p. The results are due next week and today the sp has started to move upwards. It is an Israeli company which produces hi-tech telephone systems and its sp dropped considerably last year because it lost a contract with a large mobile phone company. I believe that with good results next week the sp could return towards its levels of 40p/50p that it was at last year.Today it finished at 26p  so a good start!
Most of the rest of my shares have been fairly dormant today, although Greencore seems to be making a comeback. I was hoping to buy more at a lower sp but I fear I may have missed the opportunity. Also a share that I sold some time ago, Low and Bonar, is on the move and finished at 57p today. I believe that this may go to £1 this year.We will see!!

Too slow!!

I think I learned a valuable lesson today. There was a positive RNS on TSTR this morning and the sp started to rise to 1.35 and I could have sold but I thought it would keep on rising. However in a few minutes it had dropped to 1.08p and then recovered to 1.17p. So if I had been quick off the mark I could have sold at 1.33 and bought back at 1.08p or is that just the benefit of hindsight?
As TSTR started off at over 1.3p and VOG went to 6p, it was disappointing that they finished the day on 1.1p and 5.69p!! Still as my dad used to say, "Life is how you take your disappointments!"
